First of all, where the heck is San MIguel de Allende, Mexico, and why would you want to visit or live there? As you can see in the map below, it is approximately 175 miles NW of Mexico City and about 500 miles south of the Texas border. It is a town of about 100,000 inhabitants with almost 10,000 expatriates, mostly Americans and Canadians. The town was founded over 500 years ago and has a colorful colonial history. Its cobblestone streets are lined with shops and restaurants.

It is safe and easy to get to from almost anywhere in North America or indeed, the rest of the world.
